Anna-Liisa Sutt is a Speech Pathologist whose work involves communication and dysphagia management of adult intensive care patients. Her passion is advancing speech pathology input and evidence base in the critical care environment. Anna-Liisa has recently submitted her PhD, which assesses the effect of tracheostomy speaking valves on regional ventilation and communication success. Her research has resulted in a rapid change of practice locally, with 75% of ventilated patients with tracheostomy now talking. This includes patients on mechanical support. Her work has been instrumental in changing practice in a number of ICUs.
